GEL PLATE PRINTING
Gel Plate: Both Gel Press or Gelli Arts are great brands.
note: make sure you check the gel plate is compatible with acrylic paint. Ex. Speedball Gel plates are meant for printmaking ink and don’t work with acrylics.
Purchase at a local Art Supply Store or the Gel Press plates can be found on Amazon
Brayer: I love my Speedball Brayer. I also have success with a Gel Press brayer and have found a few on Amazon. I like 4” or 5” in size for general use.
Can be found locally, at Michaels and on Amazon depending on the type of brayer you choose.
Paper:
For creating collage papers my preferred paper is copy paper, I use hp Premuim28, I find this at Walmart.
you can try all sorts of papers and use what you have.
Music sheets and old book pages
Rice paper, wet strength tissue paper, deli paper
Cardstock
Acrylic Paint :Liquitex Basics – perfect for collage and gel plate printing. This paint line is good, but not so costly you don’t feel you can’t have lots of fun!
Printing Supplies: you don’t have to look very far or spend any money to find something that will make an interesting print!
ADHERING COLLAGE
Paint Brushes: .Paintbrushes – any brush that feels comfortable will do, I personally use lower cost brushes since they end up getting used to push collage down
Matte Medium: .My favourite adhesive. It is non-yellowing, doesn’t get cloudy and is easy to work with. Because it is a clear acrylic medium you can paint over any collage without issue.
THE REST
Canvas : Level 3 Gallery Wrapped Heavy Duty Canvas from Michaels. You can find lots of great canvas options at all the locally owned art supply stores!
